I’m Nicola, a writer, proofreader, editor, linguist and trainee voiceover artist.
My lifelong love and fascination for literature, poetry and language began in childhood when I was most often to be found with my nose in a book. When not reading, I was trying my hand at writing my own stories and poetry.
My passion for language led me to study for a BA Hons in French and Italian, at the University of Manchester, followed by a CIOL Diploma in French to English Translation. After qualifying, I spent some years working as a translator before going on to work as an inhouse copyeditor, copywriter and proofreader in Amsterdam.
Throughout this time, I continued to write my own stories and poetry, with the dream of one day becoming a published author. In 2024, I decided it was time to make that dream a reality and work on my first book, Dancing Bean: The Boy Who Loves Ballet, began in earnest.
